If there’s ever a time to fight for universities to be free again - now is it. https://twitter.com/Hanna_Jameson/status/1309587540853370881">https://twitter.com/Hanna_Jam...
I never went to university due to the extortionate fees for content that could be found online. But for a lot of young people they have absolutely no other way than to go.
Also it is absolutely hammered into kids in order to have a future they need to pay these fees and go. Wrong.
Time’s are changing. If you’d like to get into game development the best advice I can give you is make a portfolio, or study a part of the industry that interests you. Aka coding, animation, concept art. There are also much shorter courses online for a fraction of the price.
Research the tutors that are running these courses: What is there background? Have they been in industry, or a relevant field? It’s vitally important you do this before handing over any money. Also look at the success of past students - ask to see their work after the course.
Also ask how many students after completing these courses managed to get in industry? How long did it take? Also what do I need to continue to work on to get in (if needed)?
Not only are you paying for the practical skills of the course you are paying for connections and advise.
