There are a lot of people who support the concept of the police but who are finding it increasingly difficult to support the police as they exist today. Politicised, acting with fear and favour and completely alien to the general public. They've lost touch.
The average officer is tooled up like Robocop, is dismissive of the public, remote, unresponsive and without empathy for the frustrations of non-criminals, as if we are all numbers. This comes from above, changes in policing in the last 20 years are nothing short of astonishing.
The big question is, why? Never in the history of policing have the law-abiding been so suspicious of the police. The trust has gone for millions of people. It's not just the police, it's the entire criminal justice system.
