I refuse to accept fans hiding behind the “individual errors” argument to protect Frank Lampard. It’s not a coincidence.

We’re still being outclassed every game. Brighton, Liverpool, West Brom. At times, Barnsley gave us serious trouble.
Lampard selected Alonso at LB, knowing that he’s poor and prone to errors in that position.

Lampard debuted an unfit Thiago Silva at LCB instead of his more comfortable RCB position, alongside Marcos Alonso, knowing he’d need to provide cover like Luiz, Cahill etc did.
Lampard had the option to play Emerson coming off the back of a solid performance vs Barnsley, who also speaks Thiago Silva’s language, and he played Alonso. Even Azpilicueta could’ve played LB.

Lampard decided once again not to start our only fit, natural Winger in Hudson-Odoi.
Whether you like him or not, Barkley put in a solid performance vs Barnsley, he’d have offered more than Kante further forward and we could’ve kept Kovacic on.

If not, Kante was sat in a role that Jorginho would’ve been perfect for.
1/2 - Lampard could’ve and in my opinion should’ve, played Zouma at CB.

He’s in form and although I’d have probably partnered him alongside Tomori, if Lampard really wanted to play Thiago Silva at LCB then Zouma could’ve played alongside and spoken French with him, helping him.
2/2 - I’d have played James Zouma Tomori Emerson but even so, James Zouma Silva Emerson would’ve worked.

At least then, Zouma and Emerson could’ve helped Silva throughout the game and nullified any communication issues etc.
