Both/and. The issues of manipulation of our reality is true. That said, I have seen some of the most educated and supposedly intelligent so-called skeptics engage in high school types of clique behavior and had their biases exploited as @RogueRad references below. https://twitter.com/roguerad/status/1309915310321958919
The other thing I have noticed is that rivalries in healthcare

that have long existed between doctors

now expanded to all the different types of clinicians
+
healthcare industry professionals.

Savvy non-clinicians exploit the backstabbing, bullying culture of healthcare
This is so pronounced that @TJCommission has published this on it including using the term “sabotage.”

These are things typically done via gossip, in the dark, without due process as compared to use of transparency and appropriate mechanisms
In regards to the “hidden curriculum” towards POC in healthcare, the usual process is to create gossip, defame, create doubt, negatively label, use nebulous or flat out wrong “professionalism” or “you did something wrong” standard prior to an official action as per @COCoQC
Some the most vocal on #equity are really “fakequity”

hashtag use signals what should be a safe space

then react with violent emotions

when their ego, image, control threatened

by a removal of silos and real, uncontrolled communication https://fakequity.com

There are SO many other ways, apart from race, that one can create “boundaries” (live in a bubble where you never hear anything different from your own beliefs and only ever get validation) - and that is why people ask “What happened to America”? Nothing happened. You were
Alternatively, there are those whose tweets are primarily to ridicule others. That’s also a great way to be unaware and engage in cliquish behaviors that reinforce bubbles of ignorance of the world outside of your own limited one.
