RANDOM HORROR MOVIE WATCHLIST: A THREAD
Since It’s almost spooky season I wanted to share a thread. So here is 36 of some of my favorite scary movies to watch as we go into October.

I’m a huge horror fan and just want to share some of my favorite scary, underrated, dark, funny and interesting horror films.
THIS IS BY NO MEANS A RANKING. Just some cool movies that I’ve seen and want to share in honor of my favorite time of the year.

I will not include sequels, but a lot of these movies do have them so check em out when you get the chance (or not).
Scream (1996)

My favorite horror film. Scream is the definition of meta-horror, it’s so self-aware, funny, and has one of the best twists endings of all time. The sequels aren’t as good as the original but it’s a fun narrative and a fun watch for all horror fans
Red Eye (2005)

Wes Craven also gives horror fans a good one here. Both Scarecrow and Regina George kill their roles and validate fears of stalking and claustrophobia. Super underrated and definitely worth watching. It’s probably Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams at their best
The Blair Witch Project (1999)

I can see why people initially thought this was real footage of three friends getting lost in the woods. The Blair Witch Project essentially popularized found footage horror movies and made it work using the woods and the style to its advantage.
Black Christmas (1974)

This movie does not get talked about enough in the horror-sphere. I really enjoy this movie and it’s one of the original slasher films of the genre. Billy’s creepy calls will make you feel some type of way and I’m all for it in this original classic.
Hereditary (2018)

Hereditary made me re-fall in love with horror films. The story, score, twist, atmosphere, and an amazing performance by Toni Colette. Best horror film of the 2010’s without a doubt. Watch it if you haven’t already!
Insidious (2010)

What a way to enter the 2010s in horror. James Wan destroys the torture porn genre with this one and brings back the fears and horror of the haunted house with a nice-old demon possession. The Conjuring is good, but I do like this one better.
Funny Games (2007)

WARNING - This movie is very dark. It’s not funny at all. Funny Games will piss you off with good reason. This meta-horror just plays around with common movie tropes just to fuck with you. But you can’t help but watch. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Stir of Echoes (1999)

The Sixth Sense definitely deserves all its Oscar recognition. But it’s a travesty that Stir of Echoes was overshadowed by a movie with a similar theme and story. This movie creeped me out as a kid and still does till this day.
