I’m in Brownsville this afternoon - where @nonbkpipeline and activists have gathered to protest the 5th phase of the fracked gas #NorthBrooklynPipeline
Brooklyn borough president Eric Adams @BKBoroHall has the mic now: “If we allow ourselves to turn this into a generational fight ... those who are profiting off the poverty in our community are handing the baton to the younger generation and will continue to exploit us”
The group is now marching down to the pipeline construction site with chants of “hey hey ho ho this racist pipeline’s got to go”
We’ve stopped outside a National Grid office to let them know directly:
Just a moment of radical joy / dance on the way to the pipeline site
The protest outside the pipeline construction spot wrapped with another moment of dance, over song/chants of “this would never happen in a rich white neighborhood!” One organizer’s call to action before the dance - “that’s one thing they can’t take from us: our joy.”
