Should you enter #pitchwars? Here are my thoughts.

pw gets a lot of attention and a lot of people have had great experiences but it is not right for everyone and it's in no way mandatory or necessary. You should only enter if you want to and you're ready for the program.
Questions to ask before submitting to #pitchwars:

-Do I have a completed manuscript?
-Do I want help getting the MS query-ready?
-Do I have the time Nov-Jan to revise?
-***Do I have the mental/emotional space to commit?

You should be able to confidently answer yes to all
Guard your mental health first. If not getting into #pitchwars is going to damage your mental health, deciding not to enter is 100% valid. Take whatever you want from our programming and discard the rest.

Only you can answer this question for yourself.
Getting into #pitchwars is also no guarantee of anything. So if getting in, doing all that work, and still not having the dream experience is going to damage your mental health or self-worth, proceed with caution

It can feel like a lot of pressure and an emotional roller coaster
You'll hear a lot of people say " #pitchwars changed my life," but I would caution anyone going into it with that expectation. That's too much weight to put on yourself, your mentor, and the entire program. If it happens, cool. If not, on to the next step!
#pitchwars can be a lot of things, but there are a lot of things it is not (and has never claimed to be) like:

-a guarantee of anything
-perfect
-the only path to success
-mandatory
-a shortcut
-a querying replacement
-easy
I guess what I'm trying to say is it's great to enter #pitchwars and to hope and even to be nervous. But don't put all your hope here. It's one of many many many paths. I advise putting as much weight on it as you would a single query.
As someone who spends 100s of hours volunteering for #pitchwars, I don't mean to discourage anyone from entering. I'm just urging everyone to manage their expectations and be honest with themselves about whether or not it's a good fit for *you*.

If it's not, that's okay!!!
