both ladies started out in a group and ill have you know that madonna dated one of their members just like nicki did with the freeloader.
both used religious catholic themes and got people highly upset and caused controversy
madonna’s erotica era, was possibly her most controversial one yet. creating a sex book as well, whuch opened the doors for many female performers to do the same. nicki minaj has been known to embrace her sexuality from the beginning of her career as well.
both women are considered Queens in their genre as well
madonna is often cited as the main influence for many female pop stars (including nicki) just as nicki is for the female rappers who came after her (for example all the girls who refer to themself as doll)
madonna is known for constantly reinventing herself every era and nicki minaj has mastered reinvention as well
madonna has the most charted hits on billboard dance chart till this day and nicki minaj has the most billboard entries period by any female artist
both women have been seen crossing over into various different genres, and doing well at them. madonna has done: r&b, dance, pop, hip hop, electronica, rock u name it! nicki as well.
both women are very outspoken about woman’s rights and are considered advocates for them as well.
