Let’s talk stride length and back hip action: as @LantzWheeler says, hip extension is NOT rotation. The finish position at the back hip IS anatomical extension but we get there via rotation. Motion at the back hip initiates abduction, then the pelvis opens driven by relative ER
At the back hip which is then followed by movement of the femur from relative ER to neutral or slight IR as the femur internally rotates. Watch the movement of the pelvis on a fixed femur as he begins striding and the rolling of the femur internally which creates the extension
This is why quad dominant players struggle creating rotational velocity. When we focus on achieving a position (hip extension in stride) we lose the movement quality that gets us there. Always program movement not positions!
