You need only observe how men like Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have gone from being lifted up by the media, conservatives and their party as would-be presidents to objects of relentless mockery and humiliation to understand what Trumpism really does to the Trumpist.

I truly don’t understand why people sign up for it. They get nothing from Trump himself, who continues to crap on them and demand one-way loyalty that he never returns. He mocks our war dead, looks the other way when Russians put bounties on our troops and has made us a pariah.

We as a nation are weaker, sicker and poorer than we have been since the last reign of incompetent Republican presidents in the 1920s and 30s before FDR saved the country from ruin and got us our honor in World War II. These Republicans are eagerly throwing all of that away. Why?

What do they gain from watching America, and their own reputations, burn? Are tax cuts for the rich THAT dazzling and worthwhile?? Is letting far right wing zealots re-enact the Handmaid’s Tale and junking democracy to “own the libs” what they truly want?? I just don’t get it.
