I’ve had this book for awhile, and thought I’d share. It’s just got some of the most wacky examples of ol’timey, “science.” Phrenology, eugenics, sexual self help and what not to do with your naughty bits cause God...this book has it all.

The preface gets us started nicely, I’m sure the science of gender and sexuality here will have aged well, right? Definitely zoom in on some of the table of contents headings to see where this is going: “ A prominent mons veneris the most admired by men.”
“Secret sins: or warning and advice to youth.”

“Self-pollution the worst of sexual voices… It’s prevalent among females is appalling.”
Now we are getting into the *real* science...” Science is the embodiment of truth;” sounds very intellectual dark web to me...
A handy reference for all your phrenology needs...
Luckily, Prof. O. S. Fowler is providing about… 200 pages of explanation on how to truly define beauty and love. Once again, science objectively triumphs over silly subjectivity… this is like the Bell Curve but instead of IQ, it’s attraction...
“Ovarian or groin fullness very beautifying.”

“ Anglo Saxon love making errors...”

I do hope you’re all taking notes.
Ah...now we are really getting into the sexy bits...er...I mean scientific stuffs. For instance, who knew that sperm were basically tadpoles and contained all of the parts of a body ready to sprout legs and stuff...?
See, learning.
And as for female organs, here’s a wonderful illustration and explanation. (Note: if you go looking for the clitoris, you will not find it here, as sadly, all of science recognizes the clitoris was not discovered until the 1960s.)
Professor Fowler, after giving a lecture, is introduced to a 14yo girl, and immediately spot signs of self abuse. The poor girl’s response: “I didn’t know it was wrong. Mother never told me it was; and I thought she always told me all that is wrong.” Not traumatizing at all.
Starting with the last photo of the previous tweet in this thread, the professor gives us some ways to treat “female complaints”... electrocution is an interesting one. (also, this section of the book seems to be dogeared quite a bit more than anywhere else... forbidding much.)
