The Left is very mad and lots of it is completely justified. Being temperate about people's faith doesn't seem like a difficult thing to do despite being angry.
I realize that people's faith has been the source of opposition to two central ideas- abortion and gay marriage.

But going after faith itself is a mistake. We need to demonstrate how a pluralistic society can work without insisting that faith itself must be hidden from view.
If it is argued that faith has no place in informing the policies or ideas in the public square in your version of democracy, that won't lead to people rejecting their faith. It will lead them to rejecting your version of democracy.
My faith informs my views on abortion. It also informs my views on taking care of the sick, old and vulnerable with state and private aid.
I mean do liberals imagine that their views on religion would not interfere with their own understanding of the 1st amendment?
That having a worldview based in not religion is a belief system.
Or do we not believe in war time conscientious objectors now?
