Heard from a pastor's wife yesterday, a new friend in town, her story of police breaking into her house. She returned home from buying groceries to find her husband (a pastor) in handcuffs, their door broken down, their nursery torn apart (she was 9 months pregnant) /1
An informant had told police of a drug dealer there. Police had the wrong house. They didn't do due diligence before BREAKING INTO SOMEONE'S HOUSE WHILE THEY WERE AT HOME. They did not pay for any damage (ruined their door, wrecked their nursery, tore out vents in the floor)./2
Thankfully the pastor's wife wasn't home. They both fear his reaction if he thought someone was breaking into their house, and he needed to protect her. Police have only the grace of God to thank that no one was harmed. /3
This is what our constitution is SUPPOSED to protect us from. If you live in a poor, high crime area, you STILL are protected from unwarranted search and seizure. When a WARRANT doesn't protect you from the meaning of unwarranted, there's a problem with our warrant process./4
