Thanks to everyone who tuned in last night to watch my short film Rumaan. We had our own lil viewing party @ my Khalo’s + all my uncles + aunts joined. Was an emotional + beautiful night + my heart is overflowing w gratitude that I was able to bring this sweet story to the screen
Super special shoutout to my Khalo who was so generous with his time and so so patient with me over the past 4 months as I worked long nights to perfect this film.
May we all work hard to preserve our ancestral histories by sitting more with our elders and listening to the stories that form the makeup of our own histories.
And to those who do not have this opportunity because of the violence of colonialism and cultural erasure, I see you and I love you and I will continue to fight alongside you to uncover the truths they tried to bury.
And finally, thank you endlessly to my incredible team:

• Alexander Granger for his breathtaking cinematography and incredibly kind nature. You made my family feel so seen and so special.
@emma_tomas29 for her meticulous and beautiful editing. Your cultural awareness and willingness to learn and unlearn is inspiring.
@TPFF @TSVToronto for giving us the opportunity to create these films. Thank you for supporting us and leading with such radical love.
• John Greyson + Amanda Boulos for their generous guidance and facilitation. You are the dream team and we’re so lucky to have been supported by you.
• Vivien Sansour for her incredible radical spirit who called in all the way from Bethlehem and imparted such powerful pieces of cultural preservation. Your work and your soul are radical poetry and are an important thread in our collective liberation.
• Mike Mucci who called in all the way from Guelph for his kindness and generosity. You taught my uncle and I important ways of preserving and growing seeds that we’ll keep with us forever.
