Let me be clear—I think its immoral for Trump & McConnell to push through a SC judge like this. I do not think it was the purpose of the law and I think it's a bastardization of the intent around the SC
That being said—what do we look for in a Supreme Court candidate?

We shouldn't be prioritizing political leanings, their religion, or other factors that we think are important.

At its core, the SC is about balancing power and checks and balances‚ principals that are....
fundamental to American society. So, imo, the question is can Barrett uphold those beliefs? After reading this Bloomberg piece—I think so.

as a student, I feel like its easier to understand someone's fundamental beliefs. and yes, Barrett's beliefs are VERY different than mine
but from everything I've read—she seems logical, thoughtful, kind...the type of Supreme Court judge that should be nominated if there was a Republican President and Congress.

So, yeah this kinda sucks and isn't the best situation. but like the Bloomberg piece surmises...
We should appreciate the fact that Trump's not nominating a terrible candidate and the fact that Barrett's an extremely knowledgable legal scholar. Doesn't really matter if she agrees with you or not

I think at this point that this might be the best outcome in regards to the SC
I kept this thread open so people can reply and disagree with me (or agree, idc.) feel free to DM—I'm curious to hear other opinions around the Supreme Court nomination
