Don't fall for what will be horrible coverage about ACB's family, faith, career or other bullshit. This is about jamming a Supreme Court justice on the bench to steal an election. That's all it is. If this happened in another country, neocons would bray for military intervention.

They're not even pretending to hide it. @LindseyGrahamSC and @tedcruz are positively bragging that this is their end game. They can't win this honestly so they aim to steal it in broad daylight, talk about it endlessly to depress voter turnout, & then turn to a sham Supreme Court

This country is Belarus, no more no less. I only wonder if we have the gumption to fight back the way they have done in Belarus or if we are so cynical about this process and so exhausted/gutted by racist police violence, that we've got nothing in our arsenal but tweets of rage.

I mean... @GOP have disassembled and stripped for parts the machines meant to sort votes. This is some tinpot dictator bullshit, and they are making zero pretensions to hide it. This is a "throw your body on the gears of the machine" moment, and Dems are playing tiddlywinks.

We need to mobilize. We need to strike. We need to fill the streets. But history is demanding that we do this in the absence of any kind of organized leadership and with the twin fears of right wing militia violence and a terrifying pandemic. I doubt we're up to it. At least now.

I know we have the capacity for this kind of fight back, because we're human and people do it all over the world. But to get to that place psychologically, we gotta lose the idea that this country is in any way "exceptional" or has democratic "guardrails" or any such bullshit.

We're just another decaying country on a sick, ailing planet that needs to choose between authoritarianism and mass democracy. This is happening across the globe right now. We aint special. We will have to choose and live with what happens next.
