My white friends 'stole' a Chinese baby girl who was abandoned on a street corner as a newborn and went from one disgusting hovel of an orphanage to another, is mostly blind, and autistic, after months of raising money, doing paperwork, and countless home studies. Just awful.

Their daughter was underweight and couldn't connect with people. Took ages for her to bond with my friends. She has had several eye surgeries since adoption, some quite terrifying. She gets speech therapy, as her parents advocated for her needs. She's a bubbly little girl now.

She may not have even survived in China.

What a sad and disgusting mindset to shame people for loving children and taking them in.
