Have you listened to #Pandemonium yet? I hope it’s been good! In this thread, I’m gonna be featuring artists who’ve influenced me a lot in my writing and sound ever since I started producing music on my own. Anyway, I also made you a playlist (link at the end of thread)! 😗
Radiohead’s one of my favorite bands and my entire high school days were spent drowning myself in “OK Computer” after school. For me, the whole album is like reading a dystopian novel... except, in a span of an hour. It sounds disturbing and melancholic, and so lyrically honest.
I started listening to Sóley back in high school as well. The beautiful progressions and storytelling in her track “Smashed Birds” from her album "We Sink" stayed with me ever since. I remember crying and not knowing why. We all have that one song. 😔
The entire “Portal” album by Galileo Galilei has helped me get through a lot of depressive episodes (even now) ever since high school. There’s something about their music that transcends language. I love “Whale Bone” and “Swan”! Kept me sane while writing “Orphans”. 🤗
I’ve been a fan of David Firth when I was younger. Aside from his grotesque animations on Youtube, he makes his own scores! His stage name for his music is “Locust Toybox” and his entire “Drownscapes” album inspired me in creating the string/synth-heavy atmosphere in each track.
Last but not the least! Whenever I feel like the texture of a particular track’s too thick, I listen to Sibylle Baier to be reminded that sometimes, less is more. Listening to her songs feels intimate, as if she’s playing the guitar in the same room while staring at my eyes. 🥺
[END OF THREAD]

Since this thread was about the overall sound and writing, I made a playlist of songs that are similar to my album’s tracks in terms of the message. Hope you save and listen to it! ❤️
