I hope the confirmation process of #AmyConeyBarrett won't be marred by any anti-Catholic prejudice or tropes. At the same time, asking respectful questions about how Ms. Barrett's religious beliefs will (or will not) influence her jurisprudence is a reasonable question....
...especially since Ms. Barrett has spoken about this phenomenon. Senators (especially those who aren't Catholic) will naturally be interested in that aspect of her background. Asking a Catholic about how her faith influences her public life is not de facto anti-Catholic...
NB: I've written about anti-Catholicism in the United States for some time: https://www.americamagazine.org/issue/281/article/last-acceptable-prejudice
Overall, we need to be careful about anti-Catholicism. We also need to be careful about labelling every question or critique of the church as "anti-Catholic."
