When I was in law school, during my first year (we were 18 or 19) two of my batchmates sitting a few rows behind my friend & I remarked that they wanted "ब्राह्मणांच्या पोरी" & sniggered.

This was conveyed to us by another guy friend who asked us to keep our distance & be on guard. In the following days we found out -those 2 continued discussing my friend & I in graphic detail always about what & how they would do what they wanted,to "ब्राह्मणांच्या पोरी". (2/n)

It sent a horrid shiver down my spine. The guy friend of ours & we were too gripped with fear of being slapped with false charges under the SC/ST act to even confront them. It took another batchmate who bore no such fear of prosecution to finally intervene & make them stop.(3/n)

This ordeal went on for about 2 weeks before it was over. Not knowing what to say/do at the time,I remember constantly looking over my shoulder & moving about as if in the hunger games trying to dodge any impending danger. Those were the most fearful 2 weeks ever of my life.(4/n)

I still recoil in horror recalling that experience of mine.
"Caste is the curse of India" is beginning to take another meaning altogether in this Yug with nothing protecting victims from All Castes if/when faced with real threat or danger.
