The application to demolish this beautiful and rare example of listed 1930s Glasgow Art Deco has now been submitted to Glasgow City Council's online planning portal at reference: 20/01863/FUL. Reading the surveys, the justification for total demolition is flimsy to say the least. https://twitter.com/PaulJSweeney/status/1288556551750520833
The developer has considered four options for the site. It has jumped to option four without first exhausting options to retain the listed building in whole or part. They only commissioned a site investigation and structural survey in June/July 2020 after deciding on option four.
Justification for it not being salvageable seems to amount to a few historic movement cracks in brickwork, which have been previously repaired (albeit badly) and spalling concrete on the lintels and porches. Talk about laying it on thick?! Foundations coped with a 1998 extension.
Photos of apparently terminal cracking to the brickwork (that is probably decades old settlement cracking, that has obviously previously been repaired.) This is totally feasible to repair. Certainly isn't a significant impediment to retaining this building in whole or part. 🧐🤨
Their own statement says: "holds a prominent location on the main road connecting Glasgow with Bearsden. Its art-deco form and contrasting colours of red brick and white painted concrete is an unusual style of architecture, especially for this area."

So don't destroy it then! 🤦‍♂️
