I& #39;ve had a few new followers recently so thought it might be a good time for a reintroduction! My name is Krystina and I am an Aerospace Engineer working as a Flight Systems Engineer at @BAESystemsAir (Thread)
I live in the UK and was the first engineer in my family who are from Mauritius

Due to confidence issues I didn& #39;t really network much or talk about my successes until returning back to work from maternity leave in 2019. Motherhood made me feel more comfortable in my own skin even though I was completely winging it!
When I returned to work I became a @STEMAmbassadors with my first @allaboutstem volunteering activity being one that I attended when I was in school!
I& #39;ve since clocked up many hours volunteering and I am now a mentor for @TheGirlsNet and @Stemettes Associates programme

Since returning from leave I& #39;ve been selected for the @NorthPowerWomen Future List 2020, won a @WATC_Updates Rising Star 2020 award in Defence, become an @EngCouncil Charted Engineer and opened my small business Etsy shop

I volunteer as I am passionate about encouraging more young girls to consider STEM careers, especially engineering. According to @_EngineeringUK just 12% of those working in engineering are female, compared with 47% of the overall UK workforce
Also according to the @_EngineeringUK Gender disparity in engineering briefing, there are far too many women who do not return to engineering after taking maternity leave. I was lucky to return part time & work flexibly, making the difficult transition easier for me to adjust to
In my spare time I like to relax by crafting, I& #39;ve recently started embroidery. I love travelling, live music (especially at @glastonbury when I can get a ticket) and I& #39;m trying to make more time for reading!
