Let’s get things right. Being a virgin doesn’t make you special to God; being a virgin doesn’t make your prayers potent. That’s heresy. It is superstitious. What guarantees answered prayers as sons of God is asking in the name of JESUS.

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT VIRGINITY. #THREAD
I saw a tweet by Reno where he said that virginity makes prayers potent. As Christians, that isn’t the word. We pray in the name of Jesus because through him we are justified. Your virginity is like a filthy rag without the righteousness of Christ.
2. He also stated that folks who marry as virgins are special to God than those who didn’t marry as virgins. This has no biblical validity. We are special cos we are made new in Grace! Called to righteousness through Christ. We are special cos He chose us when we were unworthy.
3. While virginity is commendable, it is not all there is to sexual purity. This means it’s possible to be a virgin and be sexually impure and it’s also possible to not be a virgin but sexually pure. Let me break it down.
Who’s a virgin? Someone who’ve never had penetrative sex. Meaning they might engage in other sensual stuff. There are virgins who watch porn, masturbate, and are consumed in lust, and there are folks who aren’t virgins but currently leading a life devoid of sexual vices.
Okay. So what about people who lost their virginity to sexual abuse? People who got raped? Do you also remember that Christ said that if you lust in your heart, you’ve already committed fornication? Sexual purity is much more than virginity.
4. Your virginity is not a gift to your spouse. This claim has no scriptural veracity. We are asked to keep our bodies because it is the temple of God. Not even for marriage, even if it was stated that marriage is honorable bed undefiled.
If virginity was meant to be a gift to your partner. That means those who don’t want to get married can whore around since they won’t be getting married to give their virginity to anyone? We are called to be sexually pure as a way of honoring God with our bodies!
5. Virginity doesn’t define your worth. As Christians, our identity is in Christ, not any ‘good works’. We were made sinners by one man — that means we didn’t need to sin to be sinners. Adam made us all sinners, and we are made righteous by one man - CHRIST! That’s our identity.
6. Virginity doesn’t mean you’ll have a great marriage. This is one of the biggest lies ever told to us. It has no scriptural basis.
We need to realize that the cultural purity-culture is different from the kingdom purity-culture. The cultural purity culture perpetuates lies to manipulate WOMEN to keep their bodies, but kingdom purity culture is a call to BOTH genders to honor God with our bodies. Simple.
