SCREAM 2 (1997) THREAD

Kevin Williamson had the idea for a sequel while writing the script for Scream (1996), discovering there was more to the story. This movie began principal photography just six months after the release of Scream (1996), and it was released less than a year after its predecessor.

Various titles were considered for the sequel at different points in the film's production, including Scream Again, Scream Louder, and Scream: The Sequel.

Crew were spotted wearing Scream: The Sequel, baseball caps and shirts worn by the crew on-set, but of course it changed.

At around one minute) Paulette Patterson, who plays the usher who hands masks to Maureen (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Phil (Omar Epps), won her role in a contest sponsored by MTV.

Robert Rodriguez directed scenes of "Stab", the movie-within-a-movie. Rodriguez directed the Casey Becker scene & the Sidney and Billy scene.

In Scream, Sidney gets asked who would play her if they made a movie of her life, to which she responds "With my luck, they'd cast Tori Spelling." In the "Stab" scenes, Sidney is indeed played by Tori Spelling.

Scream is great at foreshadowing what's to going to happen without you even knowing it. When Phil walks into the bathroom & sees two Ghostfaces peeing at the urinal, that's our clue that once again there'll be two killers.

Like in the first film, you can find a reference to Freddy Krueger's iconic sweater in Hallie's & Sidney's dorm room in the beginning of the film.

Lewis Arquette (Chief Hartley) was the real-life father of @DavidArquette (Dewey Riley).

Lewis Arquette passed away in 2001.

Both Courtney Cox and Nev Cambell got their hair cut dramatically shorter between parts 1 and 2 of this series.

Ellen DeGeneres’ wife, Portia de Rossi actually is ‘Sorority Sister Murphy’ in Scream 2.

The Omega Beta Zeta sorority house is the same that was used as Miss Trunchull's mansion in Matilda (1996).

Like I said before, the Scream franchise is so good with foreshadowing. Here’s another example that there were two killers.

When Ghostface is talking to Cici, Ghostface moves into the closet yet he’s not holding a phone.

Cici's iconic death scene also confirms that there are two killers like last time. Ghostface is on the phone to Cici and her friend, but then also appears sneaking in through the front door at the same time, clearly not holding a phone.

That's right, that creepy voice wasn't added in afterwards. Actor Roger Jackson was actually hidden on set and speaking through the actual phone. All of the actors were intimidated by him, except for Sarah Michelle Gellar, who kept talking to him between takes.

Wes Craven has a cameo as a doctor in the background at the hospital, when Mickey first is seen on frame, Wes is walking toward the foreground.

The reference to fake nude pictures of Gale being released online is a parallel to a real-world event, where fake pictures of Courteney Cox were circulated online earlier that year.

Guess who else just happens to be a news reporter? That’s right- the person stabbing him to death.

The man interviewing Cotton on Current Edition is writer Kevin Williamson.

Mickey gives himself away as a killer. At the hospital after Derek is cut on his arm, he asks Sidney what made him go back into the house anyway? The only people there were Sidney, Derek, and the killer. Sidney even has a strange look on her face but doesn't say anything.

And when we see Ghostface setting up a camera to record Dewey and Gale, it's pretty obvious at this point. Who else is running around campus with a video camera trying to make a documentary of everything that’s going down? We should've guessed Mickey quite sooner.

Matthew Lillard, who died quite spectacularly in Scream, makes a very small appearance in a sorority party scene after he visited the set.

Consequently, when the first forty pages of the script were leaked onto the Internet, Kevin Williamson was forced to do some hasty re-writes. This meant that the film went into production without a completed script.

Most of the outdoor scenes for Scream 2 were filmed at Agnes Scott College, a women's college in Atlanta, Georgia.

One of the most ICONIC Sidney Prescott moments ever.

Originally, Gale is killed by Cotton, Sidney and Cotton both fight to the death, and Dewey dies from his wounds. This was changed to allow for the possibility of another movie, and originally the movie ended with another Ghostface watching the group from the bell tower.
