you are not the reason bad things or bad people happened to you. but if you don’t take the time to understand yourself and why you keep falling into the same patterns then unfortunately you can get stuck in a cycle of revictimization.
when you and your body are carrying trauma, you become stuck in that fear and event(s) where you had no control. Often we seek out familiar experiences, not just because they’re what we’re used to but subconsciously in hopes of being able to recreate and regain your control.
Without support and awareness, trauma survivors get retraumatized trying to right the wrongs done to them. But it is possible to break this cycle. You deserve to heal and to know how it feels to be treated with care and to feel safe.
