If this was written while he was with Courtney, there was most likely reasons. Courtney got heavy in vaping, there was a video at the Roxy where Ross & Courtney got into an argument. ‘Easy Love’ was their song. It wasn’t easy-loving one another but worth it then.

For Starters, apparently ‘Fade’ originates all the way back to 2017, it was never finished until obviously now. Ross and Courtney broke up in late 2017. ‘San Francisco’ is dedicated to that relationship/her.
