After a couple months in Minneapolis, I’ve noticed that as amazing as it is here, there isn’t really anything Buffalo wasn’t capable of, but it’s frustrating to see Buffalo fall behind. The people with vision have no power and the people with power have no vision.
My thought has always been that Buffalo is way better than people not from there think and not as good as people who live there think. It’s just, to me, there’s no reason Buffalo shouldn’t be a major city still. No reason other than failure in government.
That’s why Doug Jemal is so fascinating. He’s not doing anything special. But people like Paladino, Sinatra and Termini wouldn’t even try to develop bigger projects. Like, all those dudes wanted Seneca tower torn down. That’s all they could see.
Buffalo is one of the coolest cities in America. Easily. But there’s this thing where we are told anything we get is more than we deserve and we should never expect more. We need that mentality fixed so badly.
