Thread: Took a drive to Rich mountain today. This was the first look-out spot up the mountain. https://twitter.com/LissaJStrange/status/1309539829726748673
2nd look-out. I’m pretty sure this was a golden eagle. I wish I’d had my camera at the ready, because we rounded a curve and he swooped out just over some bushes right in front of us. Too big to be a hawk and definitely not a turkey vulture.

This was the prettiest view.
What’s there to do in Mena? Drive up the mountain and graffiti the f out of this rock face!
We saw some tiny wildlife, too.
1) millipede (yes, I counted his legs & he’s a liar, there are not a million)
2) the caterpillar from a bug’s life 🐛
3) butterfly 🦋
4) lizard 🦎
A reservoir that’s over a hundred years old.
The weirdest little cemetery. There were little rocks stacked up on posts and every headstone. The names had worn off all but one headstone and not all the graves were marked.
The Arkansas/Oklahoma state line. It was disputed by the Choctaws, because it took away land that was promised to them. I was unimpressed with the signs’ wording here. It just glossed over our government’s mistreatment of native people.
Dwarf trees. They were about 10-20ft tall. The top of this mountain has a desert like climate and it’s windy all the time, which evaporates any moisture. These trees have extensive root systems & are over 200 yrs old.
If you turn up the volume, you should be able to hear the wind.
Now for these last two tweets, I’d like to show you a picture, and have you answer a question.

Here’s the picture:
Here’s the question:

Is the reservoir to the left or to the right?
