Communications and Marketing thread...but not totally about politics:

1/
One of the things that's VITAL for modern marketers, communicators, and content creators is this:

OWN YOUR OWN PLATFORMS.

2/
Two of the most brilliant folks I know of who do this are @RubinReport and @ClayTravis

3/
For instance, Clay said this earlier about the Mark Jones debacle at ESPN (where Jones said he'd refuse police protection):

4/
Few outlets would let that slide. But... Clay owns @Outkick so he can say what he wants. (It's a damn brilliant line. And it's true. And he'd be called "racist" or worse if he didn't have the editorial freedom.)

5/
Rubin launched something called Locals for precisely the same reason: if you "own" your own content, you have a better chance of maintaining control.

6/
To put it another way, if Twitter deemed my earlier tweet in this thread to be racist, or if someone reported it as such, they could suspend my account.

And if they did...well, I have platforms of my own that I can use.

7/
You don't have to have your own, but too much reliance on any one channel can doom you. Think about that...
