As an Alumni and former President of HSA, it saddens me that @universityofga does not hold accountable or show support to the POC and their organizations on campus. This is just one of the events that have caused students to feel discouraged from belonging to the university 1/? https://twitter.com/hsaatuga/status/1309524147400310794
And no real action was taken place. From what I have seen, the university has not taken on much action for Covid preparations, BLM support, or this current issue with Latinx students. How do you expect Alumni to support a university who doesn’t even support their future alumni?2/?
The University loves to praise the diversity of the students, but where is the praise and support once the students arrive on campus? Are they just numbers? As the students said, this is not the first incident with racism on campus. I remember the president at the time asked me3/?
What to do with the situation (other than to ask the BLESSED people at MSP bc they are angels sent from heaven) and I was honestly speechless that this happened. However, I was not surprised. No action was taken then and it looks like no action is going to be consistent. UGA 4/?-
Please do better for the POC students. I know I want to be a proud alumni, but I can’t be if injustice and racism gets swept under the rug. Alright I’ll get off this soapbox
