To start things off, here we have the japanese box art for sonic 1, 2, CD, & 3.
I really like how much these covers pop with color. The character artwork is also nice.

Lets get into some concept art for Sonic 1.
Here we have some early sketches of Sonic and a scrapped female character, named “Madonna”.
I’m gonna guess she was gonna be the princess peach of game. She was most likely scrapped due to being too similar to mario.
she thicc tho

Some more finalized looking art of Sonic’s design.
I really like this style. It has a nice 1930s cartoon vibe.

And to close off the Sonic 1 concept art, here’s this early animatic of the SEGA splash screen.
It’s vastly different from the final game, but it may have inspired Sonic 2’s SEGA splash screen

More zone concept art. Some of these seem to be early versions of zones in the final game.
The Death Egg art implies that Death Egg Zone would’ve been a full stage.
Pretty nice.
