Today’s cycling sights... a thread

Here’s a @UPS truck in its natural environment: blocking a bike lane while also boxing in a @CitiBikeNYC dock making it suck for both cyclists and citibike users who need the dock. Win win.

But then by 6pm, with open streets / restaurants, the astroturf on the @CitiBikeNYC makes more sense! It was positively glorious

Here’s a cool @GoPro time warp video of my bike ride thru Central Park, down 7th Ave with a wrong turn.

If you bike in NYC, I highly recommend investing in a GoPro and chest mount. NYC is endlessly interesting so you capture tons of stuff (and awful drivers) on rides.

Anarchy

The only anarchy I saw was a gd truck blocking the entire 6th Ave bike lane and a row of parked cars right next to it making it extremely unsafe to go around.

A clearer view

Normally this spot would have Suburbans waiting to do Uber pick ups. Now it’s an orderly bike path and restaurant seating.

This is one of my favorite stretches - 6th Ave and 34th. Normally a shit show. Now, only if you’re in a car.

More bike lane blocking because #paintisnotprotection @NYC_DOT

Saw this scooter rider take a spill in Central Park. I think he tried to turn? I’m not sure. No one hit him and the pavement is pretty smooth. Poor guy.

And the absolute worst reckless driver. Here’s NJ driver 646510R (temp plate, likely expired) blowing through huge signs at ACP/110 CP, ignoring everyone, then speeding in a car free park. He should immediately lose his car, license for a year & get a $5k ticket. @bradlander

. @NYPDShea @NYPDCentralPark this driver should be fined for entering Central Park, then recklessly speeding INSIDE the park.

And finally, the calm Friday evening bustle of Frederick Douglass Blvd #openrestaurant #OpenStreets where tons of people are relaxing and this trombone player (a local legend) is playing. Anyone know his name?
