It takes a special kind of misogynoir & a virulent hatred for black women’s existence to support Tory Lanez & help him capitalize off a black woman’s trauma he could have killed, 2 days after #BreonnaTaylor didn’t get justice. The resounding message this sends is repugnant.
This is the same toxic culture that has enabled the likes of R. Kelly & Chris Brown to continue having thriving careers. Will there ever be a cultural reset? Even in death black women get reminded that their lives simply do not matter. This is very disheartening.
And to see so many black men and some “black male identified” black women continuing to stand by him & stream his music is even more abhorrent. “Protect black women” is more a performative slogan that’s used as hypocritically as BLM by many “allies”. I’m beyond disgusted.
De-platforming black men like Tory Lanez who unapologetically & shamelessly harm black women is a moral obligation. Don’t be so morally bankrupt that you’d choose entertainment & ‘stan culture’ over the life of a black woman who could have been murdered during that incident.
