I've spent my entire life in the music industry. When I decided to pursue music as a profession in my teens I was told I would be a starving artists and destined for a hard life. Of course that was bullshit as most advice I have been given in my life
By the age of 24, I am now 43, I actually achieved every dream I had when I was 13. Play drums on a song that was one of those songs that came on the radio 18 times a day, tour the world, sign autographs, party way too much, all that rock star life bullshit
My other dream was to somehow be part of a 'dot com' company that changed the world.I was in college during 1st dot com boom & was drawn to the idea. I landed a job analyzing music in 2004 for a failing startup called SavageBeast Technologies. They pivoted to become Pandora Radio
In the last 2 years I built a recording studio doing over 100 sessions a year and a music publishing company and had just won a startup incubator with the music publishing company and was about to pivot my life, become a CEO and run that company when in March the world changed.
My studio was in my house, and with daycare closed recording became impossible, then managing my infant company became impossible with so many unknowns and lack of resources, I folded both operations. So now what?
I'm gonna write a book. I'm hoping in 2 years time I can retweet this thread with a publication announcement.
