Yesterday, @realDonaldTrump signed some Executive Orders which he hopes will fool Americans into thinking he's doing something about healthcare.

HE IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT HEALTHCARE. This is in my wheelhouse so stick with me. Here are the boring but important facts.

As most of you know, protection for pre-existing conditions is already THE LAW under the Affordable Care Act. trump is simply trying - and failing - yet again to take credit for a popular feature of Obamacare.

Surprise billing: trump can't change anything with an EO. It requires Congressional action. His "proposal" has no detail. Congress is already considering several approaches and as usual cannot agree on anything to move forward. His 12/31/20 "deadline" is meaningless.

Drug Discount Cards: may also require Congressional approval, there is no plan for how it would work or how the nearly $7 billion price tag would be paid. $200 is a joke. @realDonaldTrump continues to be out-maneuvered by Big Pharma because as a "deal-maker," he sucks.

Drug re-importation sounds impressive but because of the limitations on the program, experts cannot find much cost-savings. Certain drugs are not covered, and biologics are not covered at all.

This week has seen a flurry of empty gestures, bribes, threats, sops, and scare tactics flung by the Malignant Potato as he sinks in the polls and prosecutors close in on his financial shenanigans.
