last week ive read a tweet from a kpop stan that went like this: "i cant support an idol that stays silent over the fact their country's government is not a democracy and is torturing and killing citizens who criticize it"

😬😬
i was thinking abt this and it may be a result of 1. immaturity (these kpop stans r probably young) 2. the fact ppl r losing touch with reality and think writing a few-words tweet supporting smth is the only thing that matters, the peak of activism, the superior moral behavior
3. the fact these ppl came from different backgrounds and never had the opportunity to really learn about dictatorships (ive study about the brazilian dictatorship and ive seen how artists who criticized it only did it in subtle ways. ofc there were really brave ppl who fought it
openly, but they were literally risking their lives and some ended up tortured or dead. if brazil suffered a coup this year, the last thing i would do is demand brazilian pop singers to openly oppose the government, although i know many brazilians would be demanding that 😬)
btw i think ppl should support whoever they want, i have no problem with that. i have a problem with hipocrisy, lack of empathy and lack of sense
*hypocrisy
oh and let me add i love when kpop stans be like im unstanning x idol bc theyre silent abt their country's dictatorship but im stanning the ones who live in a democracy but are still silent abt this matter and any other matter that could affect their careers 😍
