the government of the US can't become meaningfully fascist because it already incorporates fascists as one of its aspects. "the cops and klan go hand in hand" is not just a saying! the state will always sanction the violence that upholds its status quo. https://twitter.com/gregoryhardinii/status/1309091755640393729
fascism is not going to happen in the US. fascism IS the US. fascism was invented based on US politics. the US evolved past fascism and into something more effective, covert and violent over a century ago. read George Jackson, he was saying this 50 years ago
by another definition, the US is automatically fascist. if you study the OG european fascists, they were very clear: take the tools of political control applied in the colonies, then import them to the imperial core.
what happens in the US is almost the reverse. because the US is both -a colony itself- and -an imperial core with outlying colonies- it doesn't really waste time distinguishing between enforcement against -internal- colonial subjects and -external- colonial subjects.
that erasure of distinction between -internal- and -external- political opponents of the nation is the project of fascism. that project is based on the structure of amerika. amerika already accomplished this project, it invented the strategy, developed it, and exported it.
this is why most people don't care enough to vote. liberals and fascists are just two different ideologies of the same strategy: use the military(/police) to crush both internal and external opposition to colonial resource extraction.
the oil fields, the prisons, the logging camps, the pipelines, the industrial cattle farms, the mcdonalds, the rez, the highway, the high school- they are all forms of colonial resource extraction! and the US has strategies more effective than fascism to protect them.
that's why you see people like Obama, Biden and the Clintons criticizing 45 -from the right-. they view 45's reliance on interpersonal racist violence as too crude and unpredictable for a state to maintain. they want an effective state monopoly on colonial violence.
the difference between liberal amerikanism and conservative amerikanism is that one relies on secret violence and covert control, while the other relies on public violence and overt control. in practice, it's the same people, weapons, and goals- just different rhetoric and tactic
