As government blames students for a spike in coronovirus cases and a second wave that was actually well in its ascendancy before students headed off to university for the new academic year, I wanted to share a few thank you’s.
Thanks to the students who have been volunteering to support the vulnerable, to help the NHS, to deliver medicines to the shielding and to support those who needed to order shopping for delivery.
Thanks to the students who have fundraisers for charities supporting the covid recovery and wrote letters to those who were lonely during lock down.
Thanks to the students who graduated early to accelerate themselves into our hospitals and NHS to ensure they could cope with the pandemic.
Thanks to the students who have tried to reinvent welcome programmes and events to support new students arriving at Uni in these unprecedented circumstances.
Thanks to the students who looked after their mates, were mental health ambassadors and welfare reps to support the mental health of those struggling to navigate the pandemic.
Thanks.
