In a different world, Jose Fernandez is the face of Major League Baseball right now. I would like to have seen that world. https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1309513229283057664
The joy Jose Fernandez had while playing baseball was undeniable. Nobody had more fun doing it.
The thing with Jose was, yeah he celebrated on the mound when he struck you out. He played with fire and all that.

But he also enjoyed when you got him, too:
Here's Jose trying to explain what happened in the previous tweet.
Jose went to the plate straight hacking. It was an absolute delight.
After Evan Longoria took him deep, here's Jose asking him, "Why'd you have to hit it so far?"
And, of course, this absolutely iconic reaction to a big Giancarlo Stanton home run.
He even made a teddy bear out of Barry Bonds!
José Fernandez is my favorite professional athlete ever. Because of his personality and because of how much his story meant to the city of Miami.
Of course, José Fernandez was also one of the absolute best pitchers I've ever watched in my life. He would've been a Hall of Famer. And all-timer. The best pitcher in baseball:
Dee Gordon going up to the plate in the first at-bat for the Marlins after José's death, doing José's batting stance and then hitting a home run — Dee Gordon of all people! — was just one of those magical moments
