I know a preacher who never became wealthy, died young (aged 33), and only had a few hardcore disciples.

What a failure, right?

Nope. He started a global movement that now has almost 4 billion adherents.

Jesus would be considered a failure in today's prosperity gospel movement
That's why this 21st-century doctrine that makes wealth a proxy for faith is so flawed.

Nobody would call Jesus a rich man. He needed a miracle just to pay his taxes.

But all of a sudden, nobody has faith unless they have money?

What nonsense!
They will twist a few scriptures to claim that a man who needed to borrow a donkey to travel a few miles to Jerusalem was some low-key Jeff Bezos.

This doctrine that makes faith and offerings the way to wealth needs to die because it's a lie.

Seek first the kingdom - Matt 6:33
Let me say this again:

A man who needed to borrow a car (a donkey that has never been ridden) to travel a few miles to Jerusalem was not some low-key Jeff Bezos.
The key takeaway from this thread:

Money comes from creating/selling products people want.

Many Christians are rich; so are many Muslims; and many Hindus; and a lot of Atheists.

It's because wealth does not come from a particular faith process; it comes from creating value.
