Not a massive surprise to hear the @QPRPod gents discussing the abhorrent abuse that @FloydTweet received in the week and in general. As long as you have the ability on this platform to post anonymously, then you have the ability be as abusive as you want with zero consequences
What’s disturbing is that someone sat there and thought about tweeting that abuse to a female sports journalist, because they have no consequences other than deleting their own account, once they got the blowback they rightly got. Do I agree with @FloydTweet’s take on this? No, I
don’t. Do I think she has the right to post it without the predictable flow (pardon the pun) of abuse. Yes. Same goes with @paulfinney1969 and @LoftforWords. It was a really sobering listen, to hear Clive say that he doesn’t want to do the podcast. Love it or hate it, @QPRPod
is a wonderful resource for QPR fans that gives an insight into the club, via interviews with players, coaching staff and the boardroom. FOR FREE. It is often thought-provoking and tackles important issues that affect the club. It’s OK to disagree, it’s not OK to be racist,
Misogynistic, abusive, etc. If you decide that’s the route you want to go down, then own it. Post under your own name, with your own face and not the cowards way. Be accountable for your words. Twitter has needed to address this since it’s inception. This is my face, my name
is Dunstan Bentley. I am part of @QPRnewyorkcity. I own these comments. I remember @FloydTweet’s first appearance on the pod. She was brilliant and breath of fresh air. An important new voice. She wasn’t afraid to raise important and difficult topics. and I remember the abuse
she got when raising race with Les Ferdinand. Utterly unwarranted for daring to have an opinion. Since then she is appearing on all your favourite football podcasts and she belongs there and she belongs on @qprpod. As does @LoftforWords, as does @DavidEFraser, as does
@paulfinney1969, as does @chrischarles101. How hard is it to be a f*cking decent human being? In the words of Finney. Thank you to all the @qprpod contributors for everything you do for QPR fans. and you deserve to do it without the ridiculous abuse. Challenge them on their
views by all means, but I challenge all of the QPR fans who post abuse to a woman to answer this question. If your girlfriend, wife, mum, sister received that tweet, how would you feel? How would you react? “It’s just a bit of banter” wouldn’t cut it, would it?
