I have a readout of yesterday's Facebook's all-hands w/ Mark Zuckerberg. I've followed a few of these now, and this was the most eye-opening. I'm sharing key pieces here word-for-word. He opened his call by talking about Breonna Taylor, then later compared FB to the cops. Thread/
This is what Mark Zuckerberg told employees about Breonna Taylor: "It just needs to reaffirm and strengthen our commitment to pushing for racial justice in everything that we do."
5 mins later, he trots out two execs, who explain that employees will no longer be able to use profile pictures as they have done in the past to express support for political causes. I explained that a bit here: https://twitter.com/RMac18/status/1309290122664382464
The first employee question asks why "so many people are leaving Facebook." Zuckerberg says the opposite is true.
Zuckerberg then rallies the troops by saying that employees should be proud to work there because Facebook serves the world, particularly as countries become more insular and "and develop all these nationalistic policies." These comments were uttered without a hint of irony.
