I wish I didn’t have to keep saying this:
It’s GREAT if you sell lots of books and do well.
It’s GREAT if you want to help other authors.
It’s REALLY OFFENSIVE to assume that everyone who doesn’t sell as many books as you is an inferior writer or lazy.
And when someone gently points out that what you’re saying can be seen as abrasive, the appropriate response is not a 500 word rant on how anyone who doesn’t appreciate your genius advice is obviously a terrible writer.
I’ve mentored other writers for years. I interned for an agent. I swapped countless books with friends.

And some of the best books I’ve ever read never got published.
