many people don’t know that the kind of music wizkid has been dropping doesn’t favor him in any kind of way. the songs he has tried to break into the international market hasn’t been doing well at all. this is the sad truth his fans will never accept.

take for example soco and joro. these two songs have a real african and afrobeats vibe and it’s not even forced. we can arguably say those two songs are his biggest songs in the last 3 years.

wiz used to be the real afrobeats poster boy. he’s one of the greatest of his generation.

davido used to be in that type of corner when he first signed to sony and he dropped the son of mercy ep. it flopped badly and i don’t think davido even regards the project as one of his. davido was smart enough to buy himself out of the contract so as to do what works for him.

wiz has been dropping good music since he got signed but how many of them blew up ? sounds from the other side is one of the best albums to come out of africa but the songs didn’t really do well commercially on both international and africa market.

i don’t want to make this whole thread about burna but i have to make a reference. he has been giving the label what they really want and people keep wondering why they’re promoting him like that. it’s because he’s still fucking with the african vibe.

i hope made in lagos won’t be another sounds from the other side and i wish him the best of luck.
