The flipside to "Media Will Save Me, Personally" is the pernicious idea that "Media Should Always Reflect Progressive Values Because It's (Current Year)" which, you know, misunderstands the reality that media serves ruling class interests & values, the opposite of your interests

Constantly being shocked that things aren't getting better because things aren't supposed to get better and the media you enjoy won't save you because it doesn't care about you because it just wants to make money and perpetuate its own power
