With recent news about Community Rugby’s delayed return to playing, I wanted to inspire a bit of hope and optimism to those in the community game who need it:

I am Head of Community at @BvilleRFC and on Tuesday night I was walking around checking in with some of our projects. We had Walking Rugby (for over 50s) & a Community Sport Qual. for 1st XV players on the go. There were also U16, U13 and senior men’s training that night. https://twitter.com/brfccommunity/status/1308333742520401920
As well as that, our department at @BRFCcommunity are running support programmes for the local residents, holiday and weekend camps for children, schools Rugby delivery and we’re about to launch a ‘one club’ project that enables senior players to support junior players. https://twitter.com/brfccommunity/status/1308780960037691393
On Saturday we are running a Touch Rugby day for members only - to give men’s, ladies, vets and academy players an opportunity to compete in a safe way (as we are on stage D of RFU roadmap) in a friendly & social environment. https://twitter.com/brfccommunity/status/1306606033431920642
Myself and the management team at @CommunityGroup5 are working extremely hard to ensure that all of these projects are live and thriving, bringing in not only opportunities and club engagement at this crucial time, but also much needed revenue to clubs. https://twitter.com/communitygroup5/status/1298544937219366912
My point is that in spite of match days being a great spectacle, a rugby club can be so much more than that, all year round. Clubs are places where people gravitate, not always physically, but spiritually, and it’s a privilege to be at the centre of this shift in emphasis.
So, to conclude this thread, during my walk around @BvilleRFC on Tuesday night, something really struck a chord with me. To see all this positive activity and engagement happening, it really hit home that we are onto a good thing.

/End.
