I was taking to my Dad about the Farm Bill. This is what he told me. He dumbed it down to an example that went on the lines of "sesame that a farmer sold for 8 K in one state can be sold at another place for say 12-15 K". Sounds great, right? No.
There were laws that prohibited anyone from doing that before as this could lead to stock deficit at one place and surplus at another, leading to vast disparities in prices across state borders.
Now who can profit from this?
The corporates and rich farmers obviously
They have all the resources and "connections" to get the best prices for their produce.
The minimum support price was the only assurance a poor farmer had before. With no cash and security, the poor farmer has been stranded yet again.
It's the classic case of help the rich to get richer. The government is systematically planning for doomsday with a utopian tinge to it. It's horrendous.
