Have all the Tory MPs telling those of us in ‘non-viable’ professions to get another job noticed that there aren’t any? I’m being rejected for entry-level clerical stuff daily.
I’ve done everything I was told. I got a good degree from a good university. Until Covid I hadn’t taken any state support since the 90s. At times I’ve been near the top of my profession and I’ve also pulled pints, made coffee, swept floors.
I’ve learned how to survive in a precarious profession. I still do jobs my contemporaries in other industries moved past twenty years ago. I know how to hustle and scare up work.
But when supermarkets don’t want me to work in their warehouses and offices don’t want me to answer their phones I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do. Perhaps those helpful, fully-salaried MPs would like to suggest something?
