This global day of action, we must recognize that to be for climate justice is to be anti-imperialist. Let's take the example of the Cordillera, where large-scale mining causes ground to sink and the leaching of mine tailings to bodies of water. https://twitter.com/UPBaguioUSC/status/1309359096483594241
Who owns the mining companies that cause this? In the case of Benguet Corp. and Lepanto, their operations are fueled by foreign investment; while OceanaGold is a foreign-owned company.
These corporations encroach on ancestral land, ignoring the need for the FPIC, or Free, Prior, Informed, Consent from the indigenous people before starting their operations.
Upon digging further, Lepanto is owned by Gold Fields, a corporation based in South Africa.
This just shows how complicit our government is in allowing foreign-owned enterprises to extract out country's resources.

We keep saying "mayaman ang Pilipinas, pero naghihirap ang sambayanang Pilipino" and it is clear that this state is by no means the fault of our countrymen!
It is the imperialist nations who insist on leeching off our wealth, extracting resources without caring about the environmental impact their greed has.
To be for climate justice has been and will always be a stance that is anti-imperialist.
