It's fascinating how we all are viewing Dhoni's performance in the last match, where he just could not hit till the last over. Because he is so much larger than life, we seemingly refuse to accept what both he and coach Fleming are saying..

..i.e. that he is rusty, did not get much training because of quarantine and is no longer young enough to turn it on at will.

Instead, we have shadowy conspiracy theories, or allusions to his arrogance in taking it so late and deep before trying to hit or are just plain perplexed as to why he was not hitting when he so obviously can.
The truth is he can't, at least not right now.

He will get better over matches, and that still doesn't stop him and his team from being dangerous contenders by the business end of this tournament.
Dhoni is telling us all that he is human, and it's a tribute to his mystique that we refuse to believe it.
